Abstract
•A new phosphate family member ZnMn2(PO4)2 was explored and used as cathode material in both aqueous and nonaqueous ZIBs system.•Zn2+ diffusion behaviors within ZnMn2(PO4)2 contribute the electrochemical capacity and the ions diffusion coefficient has a same level as that of Li+ within LiFePO4.•The superior electrochemical performance of ZnMn2(PO4)2 @C composite results from the low activation energy .
