Facile preparation of superhydrophobic and visible-light response surface for environmental conservation

Further exploitation of a functional composite with superhydrophobic and visible-light degradation for solving the trouble of oil spilling and organic pigment contamination is beneficial to ecological environment protection. In this article, a facile physical dip-coating was adopted to fabricate the superhydrophobic and photocatalytic cotton fabric-based composite after F-SiO2 nanoparticles and Bi2MoO6 photocatalyst were anchored into a fiber framework. It can be concluded that circulating utilization is able to be achieved through the as-prepared composite (the efficiency extent is still up to 98%) after numerous experiments on degrading organic pigments under visible-light illumination. Importantly, its steady waterproof property can be maintained after harsh treatments (the corrosion of acid/alkali and the immersion of boiling water). As is verified by the capture experiments on center dot OH, center dot O-2(-) and h(+) radicals, center dot O-2(-) acted as a vital active species, whose superiority was brought into the decomposition of organic pigment sewage.
