Abstract
This paper reports a 32-gap MRPC built with very thin and low resistivity glasses aiming at a high rate and ultrahigh time resolution. Fast amplifier and waveform digitization systems are employed to achieve a better resolution. This MRPC, with 128 mu m thick gaps, reaches a 98 % efficiency at 13.3 kV and a time resolution of 16 ps during the cosmic tests. Moreover, we have performed X-ray tests at different particle fluxes. At a rate of 15 kHz/cm(2), the efficiency is still above 95% and a time resolution of 20 ps is achieved, which would fulfill the requirements of SoLID ToF system.
