摘要
Actin polymerization, which enables cells like the social amoeba Dictyostelium to migrate, is regulated by the action of two coupled networks, the signal transduction excitable network (STEN) and the cytoskeleton excitable network (CEN). STEN and CEN activities are observed as propagating waves along the basal surface of a cell. In the coupled system, CEN activity is organized by STEN, but there is also evidence of a CEN-to-STEN feedback, which helps cells to polarize. When plated on microridges, the waves organize and travel parallel to the ridges.
