Pos-166 rare epidemic of hemosiderin tubulopathy induced acute kidney injury; from adulterated 'dan-tsami' (hydroxyllamine sulphate) flavored drink toxicity in kano nigeria

In March 2021, a large number of patients mainly from the six (6) metropolitan Local Government Areas (LGA) of Kano state, Nigeria presented with a triad of vomiting, hematuria and jaundice following ingestion of locally made drinks flavoured with adulterated ‘Dan-tsami’ (containing Hydroxyllamine Sulphate instead of Citrate Acid Monohydrate). Dan-tsami is used to impart a sour taste to local drinks.
