Potential of Apoptosis-Inducing by a Novel Bio-synthesized CoFe2O4@Ag Nanocomposite in Gastric Cell Line at the Cellular and Molecular Level

Magnetic nanocomposites have gained great attention for their biomedical potentials. In this work, at first, CoFe2O4@Ag nanocomposite was bio-synthesized using the Chlorella vulgaris extract and characterized by physiochemical analyses, including FT-IR, XRD, DLS, Zeta potential, SEM, and TEM, VSM and EDS-mapping. Then, the anti-cancer potential of the prepared nanocomposite toward gastric cancer cells was investigated at the cellular and molecular level. The FT-IR and XRD analyses revealed proper synthesis of CoFe2O4@Ag nanocomposite. The magnetic nanocomposite particles were spherical with a size range of 20–40 nm, without elemental impurity and zeta potential of − 33.8 mV. Using the MTT assay, the inhibitory concentration 50 (IC50) of the nanocomposite for the AGS and HEK293 normal cells were determined 95 and 160 µg/mL, respectively.
