Parallel plate wet denuder coupled ammonia transfer device-conductivity detector for near-real-time monitoring of gaseous ammonia

•A simple gaseous NH3 monitor, parallel plate wet denuder (PPWD) coupled ammonia transfer device-conductivity detector (ATD-CD) was developed.•ATD-CD based flow injection analysis determined NH4+ without any fluorescent or colorimetric reagents.•PPWD coupled ATD-CD successfully measured gaseous NH3 in the atmosphere with 30 min time resolution.•There was excellent agreement between the atmospheric NH3 concentrations measured by ATD-CD and the ion chromatographic system.
