摘要
Achondroplasia is the most common short stature skeletal dysplasia and affects 1 in every 20,000–30,000 births. Patients with achondroplasia have variable skeletal manifestations that can increase the rate of medical complications such as cervicomedullary compression, genu varum, obstructive sleep apnea, and spinal stenosis and for some, these medical complications require invasive surgical treatment. Pregnancy presents a unique challenge for both mothers and fetuses with achondroplasia. While pregnant women with achondroplasia must undergo delivery by caesarean section due to the small shape of the maternal pelvis, the optimal route of delivery in fetuses with achondroplasia born to mothers of average stature has not yet been established.
