摘要
A new extinct genus and species, Zhangpumazus sheni n. gen. n. sp., of the planthopper family Caliscelidae Amyot and AudinetServille, 1843, is described from mid-Miocene Zhangpu amber. This is the second fossil record of this family and the first formally described planthopper species from Zhangpu biota. This new genus and species is apparently closely related to Delhina eurybrachydoides Distant, 1912 based on body structures and wing venation, and therefore can be attributed to the subfamily Ommatidiotinae Fieber, 1875, tribe Adenissini Dlabola, 1980, subtribe Coinquendina Gnezdilov and Wilson, 2006. This new taxon also shares some characters with Phusta dantela Gnezdilov, 2008a from the subtribe Pteriliina Gnezdilov and Wilson, 2006 of the Adenissini. Thus, Zhangpumazus sheni n. gen. n. sp. occupies an intermediate position between the subtribes Coinquendina and Pteriliina. The discovery of the new genus indicates that its related groups might have a wider distribution in Southeast Asia during Miocene.
