The Electrocaloric Effect and Diffuse Phase Transition of Eu3+- Doped Bazryti1-Yo3 Ceramics

Abstract
Pure perovskite 1%Eu – BaZr y Ti 1-0.0025-y O 3 ceramics with compositions y=0, 0.05, 0.15 and 0.30 have been prepared by solid state reaction. The low field dielectric properties have been investigated at different frequency and temperatures. The ceramic with y=0.30 presents a diffuse phase transition and the Vogel-Fulcher relation confirming its relaxor character. The temperature dependence of electrocaloric effect was investigated by indirect method. All the ceramics have a maximum temperature change around the phase transition point with a maximum ΔT=1.13K for y=0. At room temperature the maximum is for y=0.05 (ΔT=0.46K), while for y=0.15 a constant ΔT=0.40K was obtained for a broad temperature range from room temperature to 350K.
