An alternate crash severity multicategory modeling approach with asymmetric property
Analytic Methods in Accident Research(2022)
Abstract
•Asymmetric multi-class model forms are proposed as alternatives for crash severity modeling.•Both ordered and unordered mixed multinomial settings were generalized.•Crash risk propensities are heterogenous on both crash observation and severity outcome levels.•Empirical results showed good potential for the proposed scobit forms when compared to logit alternatives.•Further studies are needed to test the models’ performance and credibility level of estimates.
