ONE OUT OF FOUR PATIENTS WITH KNEE AND HIP OSTEOARTHRITIS FALL DURING THE YEAR PRIOR TO ATTENDING A STRUCTURED PATIENT EDUCATION AND EXERCISE THERAPY PROGRAM (GLA:D)

Purpose: Falls can have severe implications and are listed as a top cause of mortality by WHO. Knowledge about incidence and severity of falls in people with knee or hip osteoarthritis (OA) is sparse. The purpose was to evaluate the self-reported incidence of falls and severe falls in patients with knee or hip OA during the year prior to attending an 8-week structured patient education and exercise therapy program (Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark, GLA:D®) and to report characteristics of patients with different fall patterns.
