Abstract
•The Hengshanli dome experienced three stages of Paleoproterozoic deformation.•Partial melting of the Liaoji granites of 2147 Ma at 1864–1846 Ma during the D2 shearing.•Sub-horizontal shearing in association of diapirism dominated the formation of dome.•Doming was accompanied by middle and lower crustal vertical and lateral flow.•The JLJOB experienced early E-W extension and contraction, late N-S contraction.
