Transmittance, Photoluminescence and Electrical Properties in Er-Doped 0.98K 0.5 Na 0.5 NbO 3 -0.02Sr(Yb 0.5 Ta 0.5 )O 3 Ferroelectric Ceramics

Er 3+ -doped 0.98K 0.5 Na 0.5 NbO 3 -0.02Sr(Yb 0.5 Ta 0.5 )O 3 (KNN-SYT) transparent ferroelectric ceramics were prepared by a pressureless sintering method. The influence of Er 3+ doping on the structural, optical and electrical properties of KNN-SYT ceramics is explored. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the doping of Er 3+ does not change the structure of the ceramic's pseudocubic phase. Er 3+ -doped KNN-SYT ceramics exhibit excellent upconversion luminescence properties. Because of the presence of Yb 3+ in KNN-SYT, continuous energy transfer occurs causing higher intensity upconversion luminescence. The maximum luminescence intensity of 3.21 × 10 6 was reached at x = 0.5. At the same time, these ceramics still have good optical transparency and electrical properties when the Er 3+ content x < 0.3 due to their dense microstructure which implies that the ceramics have potential as multifunctional materials for photoelectric application.
