Application of CRISPR/Cas9 technology in cancer treatment

Genome editing techniques as a basic tools in scientific research has resulted in significant advances in biological and medical sciences, and has made it possible to understand the pathophysiology of many diseases. One of the most up-to-date method of introducing specific changes in the genome is the CRISPR/ Cas9 technology, which, by inserting, deleting or changing nucleotides in the DNA sequence, leads to inactivation of target genes, acquisition of new genetic features or correction of unwanted mutations. In addition, the CRISPR/Cas9 technology allows the creation of in vitro and in vivo models of many diseases, and the detailed study of their patomechanisms.
