Abstract
Peru is a mega-biodiverse country, and its geographical framework is characterized by the presence of the sea off its coast, the Andean Mountains, and the Amazon rainforest. Peru is located in the western part of South America. The Peruvian economy registered a growth rate of 2.2% in 2019, showing a positive evolution uninterrupted for more than two decades. Negative performance was observed in most sectors such as commerce, manufacturing, construction, mining and hydrocarbons, transportation, housing, and restaurants and services provided to companies. The Peruvian Amazon region is the most affected by the process of deforestation, caused by changes in land use in search of larger areas for agriculture and livestock for many small-scale producers. The humid tropics forest contains the largest concentrations of biomass and biodiversity on earth, and its destruction has direct and global environmental consequences.
