Abstract
•The performance of 20 TES configurations were analysed using ɛ-NTU method.•Longer and bigger tank perform better for a fixed compactness factor TES.•Change in TES design configurations effecting the porosity in tank.•In general, high porosity lead to high pressure drop, reducing TES performance.•Optimum TES design parameters were determined.
