Selenium content and speciation differences in selenium enriched soups made from selenium biofortified plants

•Dried selenium enriched soups can be made from different plants containing selenium.•Almost 80 % of total selenium in soups is in inorganic forms, except in hyperaccumulator soup.•Almost 50 % of total selenium in most residual soup solids is in organic forms.•Consumption of selenium enriched soups can increase selenium intake.
