•Stable isotope and elemental were different among three production areas in China.•The accuracy of PLS-DA for three areas using multivariate analysis was 93.2 %.•δD, Mg, Tl, δ18O, Mo, Sr, V, As, and δ13C were vital to determine the origin of CAJ.•4. Multivariate analysis is the best choice for tracing geographical origins of CAJ.
