•The XHP inhibited the secretion of NO, IL-6 and TNF-α in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cell.•Peak 4 fraction possessed stronger anti-inflammatory activity than other factions after purification by G10.•Peak 4 fraction reduced the mRNA expression of Ppp21b and Spp1 in PI3K/AKT signal pathway.
