Antimicrobial activities of Quercus infectoria gall extracts: A scoping review

•Our review on current researches have undoubtedly revealed Quercus infectoria as a potential effective antimicrobial agent.•This review provides comprehensive research data on the antimicrobial activities of Q. infectoria gall extracts and paves the way towards in-depth analyses aimed at developing effective Q. infectoria-based antimicrobial drugs.•Filling the research gaps by inclusion of diverse groups of microorganisms, drug resistant, drug interaction, drug-cell mechanism, and in vivo studies will enhance its antimicrobial application further.
