Magnetically triggered release of active TGF-B from spin vortex microdiscs

•Release of Active TGF-β from Small Latent Complex using magneto-mechanical motion.•Magneto-mechanical motion created via the use of high-aspect ratio permalloy magnetic discs created via photolithography techniques within a dual axis Helmholtz coil.•Active TGF-β proven to be capable of activating cell surface receptors in pre-transfected HEK293 cells.•Comparison to release of active TGF-β via magnetic hyperthermia.
