•A time-frequency hybrid GFM is proposed to model the periodic slab dynamics.•A GFM-based vehicle-track dynamic interaction model is established.•Truncation errors are studied to determine the truncated parameters.•The effectiveness of the proposed model is validated by comparing with FEM.
