Telemedicine medical evaluation of low-risk patients with dengue during an outbreak may be an option in reducing the need for on-site physicians

•Dengue is a tropical disease with high morbidity in resource-poor areas.•There is a deficit of on-site medical staff during outbreaks.•We hypothesize that telemedicine can replace on-site medical staff in some cases.•Telemedicine discharge rate with no further face-to-face evaluation was 94.4%.•Telemedicine can replace the initial face-to-face evaluation of most dengue cases.
