Berichtigung: Can an Elusive Platinum(III) Oxidation State be Exposed in an Isolated Complex?

In the present Communication the article by Bau and co-workers1 on the synthesis and characterization of the homoleptic [Pt(C6Cl5)4]− anion was incorrectly cited in support of the statement “Platinum(III) complexes are indeed elusive species, which are seldom observed as mononuclear complexes and the radical is often found to be localized on the ligands rather than on the metal center”. Subsequent work on the same complex did in fact clarify that there was little or no delocalization of the radical on the ligands,2-4 thus the [Pt(C6Cl5)4]− anion should have been included among the reported long-lived mononuclear platinum(III) complexes in the introduction of this Communication. The authors apologize to the readers and the authors of Ref. [1] for this incorrect assignment.
