摘要
•Broad-spectrum antibiotics seem to be an efficient approach against bacterial infections for lung transplant recipients in the early post-transplant period, as patients treated this way very rarely develop fatal bacterial infections in the studied period.•Authors of this work are aware of the limitations of broad-spectrum antibiotics administered at this stage, as we observed Burkholderia multivorans being the most common hospital-acquired pathogen in the first post-transplant days.•This approach to antibiotic postoperative prophylaxis required vigilant microbiological supervision, as sometimes change to more targeted antibiotics is needed.•Ceftazidime proved efficient for treatment for Burkholderia multivorans among our studied group.•Patients, who acquired new pathogens during their post-transplant hospital stay presented comparable lung function at discharge in comparison with those who were not positive for any new strains.
