Synthesis of poly ethyl acrylate interpenetrated poly methyl acrylate elastomer coating and its corrosion resistance properties

•A flexible, transparent elastomer with self-recovery performance and great corrosion resistance is prepared.•PEA interpenetrated PMA elastomer was prepared to strengthen the strength and toughness of PMA.•By surface treatment of the substrate, covalent anchoring between the elastomer and the metal substrate is achieved.
