Randomized controlled trial of daily teriparatide, weekly high-dose teriparatide, or bisphosphonate in patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis: The TERABIT study

•Daily (20 μg) and weekly (56.5 μg) teriparatide increased cortical thickness similarly.•Daily teriparatide substantially increased trabecular bone.•Although daily teriparatide decreased cortical mineral density, it increased total bone strength.•Weekly teriparatide increased trabecular bone moderately.•Weekly teriparatide increased total bone strength while maintaining cortical mineral density.
