Electrodeposition of zeolitic imidazolate framework coating on stainless steel wire for solid-phase microextraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water samples

•The ZIF-8 coated SPME fiber was prepared by cathodic electrodeposition.•The coating preparation experiments were carried out at room temperature.•The electrolyte solution can be reused dozens of times.•The as-prepared fiber coating has good reproducibility.•The fiber was successfully applied to the enrichment of PAHs in water by Headspace-SPME.
