Piezoelectric enhanced peroxidase-like activity of metal-free sulfur doped graphdiyne nanosheets for efficient water pollutant degradation and bacterial disinfection

•Sulfur doped graphdiyne (SGDY) is synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method.•SGDY shows exceptional piezoelectric enhanced peroxidase-like activity.•The mechanism of nanozyme-/piezocatalysis coupling process is elucidated.•SGDY exhibits remarkable dye and antibiotic degradation and antibacterial efficiency.•A laboratory scale device is built for continuous wastewater treatment.
