Nanosheets CoMn2O4 as a nanocatalyst for green reduction of nitrophenol compounds

An environmentally friendly surface modification method was employed to synthesize a CoMn2O4 nanoplate appropriate. The fabrication of green heterogeneous nano catalysts by chemical modification is determined to be very attractive in the case of the reduction of nitrophenol compounds such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (2,4,6-TNP) in the presence of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and aqueous solution. This nanocatalyst has an excellent efficiency in the reduction of 4-NP and 2,4,6,-TNP respectively to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) and 2,4,6-triaminophenol (2,4,6,-TAP). The effect of various parameters on the reduction of 4-NP and 2,4,6-TNP were studied. Here, CoMn2O4 nanoplate showed high reduction of 4-NP and 2,4,6-TNP with extremely fast kinetics. Owing to the CoMn2O4 nanoplate morphology, they produce a satisfactory outer layer for reduction of 4-NP and 2,4,6-TNP at every Co and Mn-site. Results revealed that the CoMn2O4 nanoplates positively affect the efficiency of the reduction of 4-NP and 2,4,6-TNP. This strategy has outstanding benefits such as high economic efficiency and tolerance of functional groups.
