Structural controls on the gold mineralization at the eastern margin of the North China Craton: Constraints from gravity and magnetic data from the Liaodong and Jiaodong Peninsulae

•Qingchengzi and adjacent areas at Liaodong have a high exploration potential for concealed gold mineralization.•Gravity and magnetic signatures used to locate faults, basement and Mesozoic intrusions.•Concealed contacts between granites and Precambrian metamorphic rocks are identified.•Gold deposits are controlled by structural intersections and lithological contacts.
