Knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward epilepsy among schoolchildren in Jordan

•Schoolchildren demonstrated inadequate knowledge about the causes of epilepsy.•The most common source of students’ knowledge about epilepsy was from the media.•The students’ feeling of responsibility or thinking they were doing their best for the patient by contacting the parents.•Most of students said that a person with epilepsy should be able to marry and have children.•Schoolchildren who already had first aid training presented more positive attitudes than those who had not.
