•Florida's native rangeland accumulate > -11 Mg C/ha in 4 years, including fire.•Fire decreased mean annual NEP (-368 g C/m2•yr) by 51%, while drought by 11%.•Aboveground biomass recovered to pre-fire conditions four months after fire.•Mean annual NEP was recovered within a year after fire.•The rangeland was a CH4 sink, low soil GHG emissions were offset by C uptake.
