Hydrogen bond donor functionalized poly(ionic liquids)@MIL-101 for the CO2 capture and improving the catalytic CO2 conversion with epoxide

摘要
•Hydrogen bond donor (HBD) functionalized poly(ionic liquids) were incorporated into MIL-101 framework through the encapsulation of monomers then copolymerization methods.•HBD functionalized PIL@MIL-101 exhibited excellent affinity to CO2, benefitted from the high BET surface area and porous structure of MIL-101 together with the incorporated poly(ionic liquid).•Due to the synergistic effects of multiple functional groups of Lewis acidic Cr sites, HBD groups and nucleophilic Br-, the HBD functionalized PIL@MIL-101 showed efficient catalytic performance for the CO2-epichlorohydrin cycloaddition under cocatalyst-free, solventless and mild (70 °C, 1.0 MPa, 2.5 h) reaction conditions.•HBD functionalized PIL@MIL-101 composite showed facile synthesis, easy separation, thermal and recycling stabilities for material candidate in CO2 capture and conversion.
