Abstract
Streetlight systems are the most important aspects of the cities. They consume 25–30% of total energy spent on streetlights. In traditional light, there is a standard power grid to provide energy. These streetlights are under the influence of controller which is fixed in the lamppost. It may be an individual controller for a lamppost or group of lamps post controlled by a single controller to reduce energy consumption. For resolving the traditional problem, the smart LED lights can be employed with LoRa technology which monitors and operates the streetlights up to 10 km of distance. LoRa sends the details of the location in case of any faulty light to the central controller. Voltage and current sensors are used to calculate the power usage by the streetlights. This system helps to measure the intensity of the environment and by this, streetlight will be ON/OFF, so as to avoid the streetlights being in ON mode during daytime. If any object is heading toward the lamppost, it senses, and increases its intensity. Implementation of these technologies is used to reduce the energy consumption by streetlight, maintenance cost, and manpower.
