The Look on Your Face: Descriptive Overview and Clinical Experiences Associated with Multidisciplinary Facial Reanimation Conference
31st Annual Meeting North American Skull Base SocietyJournal of Neurological Surgery Part B: Skull Base(2022)
Abstract
Introduction: Facial nerve injury is the most morbid common complication following vestibular schwannoma (VS) resection. Patients with moderate-to-severe injuries that do not experience significant spontaneous improvement after surgery frequently benefit from facial reanimation procedures. To better capture eligible patients and refer them for treatment in a timely fashion, we instituted a Multidisciplinary Facial Reanimation Conference. The goal of the current study was to provide an overview of our initial experience, including preliminary clinical and paraclinical impacts associated with patient care associated with the conference.
