Abstract
This article analyzes the relationship between the use of technology and plagiarism, we worked with a sample of 6,396 students from 52 schools in Ecuador, students were divided into two groups: first year of high school group with 3,340 surveys and last year of high school group with 3,056 surveys. The use of technology was determined through the establishment of clusters or groups based on the preferences of the students; these groups were related to the level of student plagiarism through a logistic regression statistical model. The results indicate that first-year high school students tend to plagiarize more when they spend more time in social networking, academic and entertainment activities, this relationship disappears when the students reach their senior year; the only relationship that remains constant in the two groups has to do with the level of trust they have in the information and tools of the Internet.
