Smart meter devices are capable of many functions and are versatile in performing an accurate reading of various parameters. Also, one of the most important features being its remoteness. The regulation allows for updating the software to meet the requirements of advancing technology. Communication with the device allows for remote management of the various loads connected and monitor these in real-time. Since the advanced smart meter records and sends data to the data concentrator unit (DCU), fault predictions made, and preventive or corrective actions executed efficiently, which prove to be a considerable upgrade over the existing meters in terms of adaptability and information gathering capabilities.
