Hierarchical Models in Health Services Research
Wiley StatsRef: Statistics Reference Online(2022)
Abstract
Health services research involves the examination of how social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, and health technologies affect access, quality, outcomes, and cost of health care. A frequent problem involves the determination and quantification of geographic and health care delivery system variation in outcomes. Hierarchical models, sets of regression models linked by the structure of clustering, are often used to estimate and explain this variation.
