Abstract
Handling disaster response with simulations and data can bring an early knowledge of critical situations, allowing better early awareness and decisions. This, however, requires the combination of multiple domain elements and technologies to allow for such a system to operate according to constraints, in particular those of time. This chapter describes how a pilot for tsunami and earthquake was composed out of different simulations and data sources to build the situation knowledge needed at various time scales, and the various technologies that the heterogeneous system deployed and used to orchestrate the workflow, to ensure data access, to deploy tasks over the infrastructure, and to ensure reliability, precision, and performance.
