Abstract
•Eco-efficient separation of ethyl acetate-isopropyl alcohol-water mixture by extractive distillation is proposed.•By σ-profile analysis, [BMIM][OAC] is screened the most suitable entrainer.•Two kinds of extractive distillation intensification configurations based on dividing-wall column and differential pressure heat integration are developed.•The differential pressure heat integrated extractive distillation process with [BMIM][OAC] as entrainer has the most economic and environmental benefits.
