Spatio-temporal assessment of frost risks during the flowering of pear trees in Belgium for 1971–2068

•In Belgium last frosts in spring come earlier in 2019–2068 compared to 1971–2018.•The onset of flowering of pear trees advances slower than the last frost dates.•Pear flowering becomes less often affected by spring frost.•At higher elevations vulnerability for frost damage remains high.•Best bias correction used monthly series of min. and max. temperature separately.
