On the influence of different in-plane biaxial loading conditions over FCG lives

摘要
•An automatic fatigue crack growth algorithm was used to evaluate the influence of in-phase and out-of-phase loadings in FCG.•In-phase and out-of-phase loadings lead to crack deflection under a 0.5 biaxial load ratio due to mixed mode loading conditions.•Fatigue life is proportional to initial notch angle but inversely proportional to the load phase shift.•Crack propagation direction is influenced by the combination of static and cyclic loadings on different axes.•Different frequency loadings created similar behaviour to fully out-of-phase crack propagation conditions.
