Effects of end plates on vibro-acoustic responses of conical and cylindrical shells

•A semi-analytic model is developed for vibro-acoustics of closed conical and cylindrical shells.•Coupling effect between end plates and external fluid is considered.•The developed model is of high accuracy and efficiency.•Coupling effect cannot be neglected as out-plane vibrations of end plates are obvious.•Contributions of end plates to acoustic pressure are dominant for shells under axial forces.
