Abstract Excited electrons, e ∗' s, have been searched for by making use of the processes e + e − →e + e − γγ and e γ ( e ) (quasi-real Compton scattering). From the former process, we have obtained the lower limit for the mass of e ∗' , 27.9 GeV/ c . A good agreement with QED is observed in the latter process, and new upper limits have been set for the coupling strength λ as a function of the mass of e ∗ .
