Expression and significance of nm23 prior to and after radiotherapy in gastric poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma

Objective To investigate the expression of nm23 in gastric poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma following radiotherapy.Methods The expression of nm23 were detected by using SP immunohistochemical staining in 28 cases of gastric poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma.Results Positive were stained diffusely or granularly brown in cytoplasm.The positive rate of nm23 before radiotherapy were 35.7%,while the positive rate after radiotherapy were 71.4%,there were statistical difference between these two ( P 0.05).The survival rate of positive cases before and after radiotherapy was higher than that of negative cases ( P 0.05).Conclusion Radiotherapy may enhance the expression of nm23 and inhibit the metastasis of gastric poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma,nm23 positive cases before and after radiotherapy have a good prognosis and it may be served as a marker to evaluate the prognosis of patient.
