Expression of survivin in human colon carcinoma and its clinical significance

AIM: To investigate the expression of survivin and its relationship with the clinical feature of colon carcinoma.METHODS: In 46 specimens of colon carcinoma and adjacent non-cancerous colon tissues,the expression of survivin was detected by immunohistochemistry.RESULTS: Of the 46 cases of colon carcinoma,28 cases expressed survivin but survivin was not detected in adjacent non-cancer ous colon tissues.The expression of(survivin) in colon carcinoma was not associated with the patients' age,gender and differentiated level(P0.05),but with the(metastasis) of colon carcinoma(P0.05).CONCLUSION: The high expression of survivin in colon carcinoma suggests that it plays an important role in the development and metastasis of colon carcinoma.
