Comparison the clinical outcomes with ICSI between fresh and frozen-thawed sperm obtained by PESA

Objective:To investigate the outcomes of frozen-thawed sperm obtained from percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA).Methods:Fresh sperm from PESA was used in 94 couples for ICSI (fresh group),frozen-thawed sperm from PESA was used in 92 couples for ICSI(frozen group).Fertilization rate,embryo quality and pregnancy rate were compared between the two groups.Results:There was no statistically significant difference in fertilization rate,embryo quality and pregnancy rate between the two groups (75.04% vs 78.4%,78.3% vs 81.3%,47.87% vs 44.44%,P0.05).Conclusion:The clinical outcomes are similar between fresh and frozen-thawed sperm from PESA.PESA combined with sperm cryopreservation may apply to treatment for some patients with azoospermia.
