Abstract
Objective:To understand associated factors of cervical cancer screening participation among retired and pro-poverty women in Hongkou District,provide foundation for effective intervention strategies.Methods:502 retired or pro-poverty women in Hongkou District were interviewed by self-efficacy scale and self-designed questionnaire about attitude and effect factors designed according to social cognitive theory(SCT).Results:83.9% of the participants were screened,and 46.5%(39.0% in all) of them had been screened in last 3 years.Results from multivariate analysis showed that the following SCT factors were associated with cervical cancer screening participation: organized screening at working place,married status,recommendations of doctors and surroundings' influence,all these factors have positive effect.The factors associated with cervical cancer screening participation in last 3 years were education,organized screening in community,years of retiring,recommendations of doctors,knowledge about cervical cancer and screening and self efficacy,all the factors were positive except years of retiring.Conclusion:The cervical cancer screening rate in Hongkou District in last 3 years is still low.Health education,improving self-efficacy of women and the awareness of doctors,providing free screening services and other strategies should be taken to improve the cervical cancer screening rate,postmenopausal women as well as their family members all should be the target population in terms of health education.
